There was a slight rustle in the foliage of the forest, which was quiet with dawn. A small pure ashen paw slithered from the bush, the rest of the lean tom coming right along. He was so big for just being seven moons, almost the size of a normal cat already. His paws were massive--which indicated the growth. He had a lot of growing left to do. His bright azure gaze flicked around, and he sat on his haunches, waiting for his mentor to arrive. I wonder, he contemplated, his thoughts roaming with nothing of interest. Can she handle me?

Light reflected off a beautifil orange tabby pelt. Bright green eyes shone with pride and joy. The ferns swayed back and forth as she brushed by them. A small paw stepped into the clearing. The rest of her slender body followed it. She smiled and looked around. Her bright green gaze landed on her apprentice," Ashenpaw! Are you ready to train?" Firesong asked, her voice gentle and kind. But it had a strict edge to it. He was her first apprentice, she wasn't gonna mess it up.

Ashenpaw whipped around, his face holding an exquisite smile that was slung across his face like paint on a canvas. His bright cerulean eyes were eager, and his ears were pricked. He jumped up with delight. "Yes, I'm ready, Firesong!" he shouted with extra enthusiasm. The glint of his mentor's ginger fur distracted him, for she was so dazzling. He had to make sure to pay attention. Don't lollygag! he thought, holding a snicker to himself.

She laughed and mewed," Okay, hunting or battle training first?" She knew that most toms chose battle training first. Maybe he was different. Maybe not. She shrugged and smiled waiting patiently for his response.

Ashenpaw considered his options for a moment, flicking his ears passively. He finally returned his attention to his striking mentor, and bowed his head to her with exaggerated formality. "I would like to learn whatever subject you would most prefer to teach!" he replied, a gentle twinkle to his eye. There was a wry smile on his lips, and his whiskers seemed to quiver with anticipation.

Firesong laughed and mewd," Okay! How about hunting first?" She wanted to teach her first apprentice at his speed but she didn't know what that was yet. She sat down and wrapped her tail neatly around her paws. Her bright green eyes twinkling.

"Oh, but of course!" he admitted, it was not his subject of favour. But he had already convinced himself that he would not make one complaint--not one. Not even if his mentor turned out to be an evil witch who cuffed him for no good reason! His thoughts began to displacate him. "Would you like me to try on my own once, or will you demonstrate first?" he asked politely, a small flicker of a smile playing across his lips with finesse.

Firesong thought about it for a moment while staring at him," Um... how about you demonstrate first then I will help you improve your crouch." She nodded, deciding that would be the best way. She waited for him to show her. Maybe he would catch the mouse that was cowering in the bushes a few fox lengths away. She smirked.
