Alll-righty. Then just lay down or relax over there. She flicked her fluffy tail to the direction of the moss-bed that she set up for patients. She green eyes still charming, she peered into the backroom, attempting to see how Larkpaw was doing. With a content smile, Ivytail started to examine Shadowheart's stomach. She took her silver paw and make out the figure of the un-born kits inside. Considering she and her mate were small, just like her, the kits wouldn't be extreme. Alright. I see about 3 kits; which is a lot actually. Unfortunately please don't take this the wrong way.. There's a really small one.. Not sure if it's going to make it. We can only hope it will. But if it survives; you will have 4 children. Now we need to do some movement tests to determine the date of the birth.

Larkpaw listened on to what Ivytail was saying to Shadowheart with a careful ear as she sorted borage. As she plucked a large, bright green leaf from the pile and put it into the 'good borage' pile she saw a little spider. "You don't belong in here little guy." She scuffled it out of the den with paw and swiftly went back to sorting borage. After sorting the last remaining leaves she picked up the 'bad borage' pile in her mouth and padded out of den to the camp entrance, leaving the pile right outside. She then padded back to the medicine den and gave Ivytail the 'good borage'. "Here ya go." She said smiling. She looked down at Ivytail's drawing, thinking about what she said about a runt, possibly not living. "If it's greenleaf now and they'll be born anyday, with prey stock so high and borage easy to find I think he'll have a pretty good chance of living." She said, smiling at Shadowheart.

Thanks Larkpaw. And your right about the green-leaf. And the even better part is that they'll be strong enough to survive leaf-bare. Ivytail examined the borage, and smiled. Alrighty, since it's the right kind, would you please make it into small parts so she can eat it easier? And after this, did you want to train? She asked Larkpaw, and then turned back to her patient. So, you think you'll be prepared for the birth?

"Sure thing, I'll get right on it. And sure, we can go training." When she said the last part she put a fake smile on her face. She didn't totally like training because she knew why they trained...to fight. And she didn't like fighting at all; plus she wasn't too good at it. She looked down to her work and began seperating the leaves like Ivytail asked. When she was done and handed the pile to Shadowheart, "Do you want honeysuckle or water to wash that down?" She wrinkled her nose as she smelled the bitterness of borage leaves.

Honeysuckles might give her a stomach ache, water would be a smarter and healthier choice. But it's ok, I can get it. Please assist Shadow on her tests. Just do the basics. Walking, and joint moving. Then I can determine how long the wait will be. Ivytail giggled as she padded into the supplies room.

Larkpaw got excited, this would be her first test since becoming the medicine cat apprentice. She walked over to where Shadowheart was, smiling. "I'm going to need to walk around a little bit with you. I'll have to see how much you waddle, how much you bend your legs as opposed to normal. You've been eating more, haven't you? Do you feel anything moving inside your belly at all?"

(Sorry I was busy today. amusement park o.o got rained on. lol long story) Shadowheart swallowed in what Ivytail had said about her kits. She smiled in pride at three, then looked a little sad at the news of a smaller fourth. Shadowheart hadn't even been the runt in her litter; he'd been still-born. And her sister, Brightpaw, had always been more fluff than cat, so she figured it was just genetics... Larkpaw's words comforted Shadowheart, however. She settled with the decision that if there had to be a runt, it'd be given the best chances possible with ThunderClan in it's current conditions.
As she thought about this, Ivytail and Larkpaw exchanged words and Ivytail and her charming green eyes disappeared towards the back of the den. Shadowheart stood again, and walked with Larkpaw, feeling even more awkward when she was being examined. Her limbs felt weak and she probably was waddling slightly - she guessed a medicine cat would intupret that as being close to birth, and Shadowheart could feel inside of her that it was close to time too.
"I suppose I am eatting more", Shadowheart responded, flicking her tail, but not in complete annoyance. "All the apprentices - and Swiftfire - bring me food like I'm the leader or something". she knew this was only because they were concerned for her since she was pregnant with four kits, but Shadowheart had never ate excessivly before. Then she answered the last question: "And yes, I feel a little moving on occasion"

Larkpaw gave a little mrow of laughter. "Haha, they only feed you like that because they're concerned. I have noticed Swiftfire running around like a hedgehog with his head cut off, has he been bothering you at all? I mean, just being around a lot?" Larkpaw smiled, trying to talk to Shadowheart and make her comfortable at the same time that she was testing her. "And how often to you feel movements? Are the big?" Now Larkpaw was starting to get excited. She was having a lot of fun doing this; being a medicine cat apprentice. She knew she should be taking her duties seriously and she definately was, but she really liked it.
Shadowheart and Larkpaw walked around a bit, Shadowheart waddling quite a bit. From what she was seeing she could tell that the kits were heavy and maturing quickly. The kits were definatelty coming soon and Larkpaw thought hard to calculate an actual day.

"..has he been bothering you at all? I mean, just being around a lot?" "Hmm?", Shadowheart said in thought. Then she laughed and smiled. She knew the answer to that. "I'd just prefer he stayed with my all the time, but that isn't a choice" The black she-cat continued to walk, attentively answering each of the questions. She felt the apprentince's excitement, and felt it withen herself too. Curiousity bubbled in her own bright green eyes. "The movements? They've got more and more frequent, and yeah bigger"

"I'd just prefur he stayed with me all the time, but it isn't a choice." "Haha, alright. I was just making sure all his crazyness wasn't a bother." Larkpaw hesitated for a minute. "W-what's it like having a m-mate? And expecting...kits?" Larkpaw had always kind of wanted them but she was a medicine cat in training, she couldn't have them. She was hoping that Shadowheart didn't get the wrong idea from her question. Would she think she was up to something? Or tell Ivytail? Would she get in trouble? She really hoped not.

Ivytail let out a little giggle at the last question of Larkpaw's. W-what's it like having a m-mate? And expecting...kits? but after a second look at it, Ivytail sort of cringed. I really hope Shaddie doesn't go into detail on that one.. In the back room, she was actually getting bundles ready for the birth. She knew it was gonna be very soon, maybe even today. So far her first bundle contained seeds, catnip, marigold, chamomile, cobwebs and thyme all wrapped together with borage leaves. When she was sorting through her herbs, she saw that her supply on tansy was low. Then she remembered from when she was an apprentice. She almost gave a pregnant cat tansy and almost killed all her kits. With an alarmed perk, she meowed to Larkpaw. Don't give her ANY tansy! Actually I'm going to get rid of it because it's kinda moldy looking. Ivytail trotted out of the den with the leaves on her head, attempting to balance them. Once she threw them outside, she winked at Larkpaw. Alright- Ivytail looked even harder at Shadowheart's stomach. Woah.. You might even have them today Shad... Ivytail smiled.

When Larkpaw heard her mentor mewing about tansy she just rolled her eyes. She knew that tansy was for relieving coughs and wasn't good for nursing mothers. "Ivytail, what else did you put in thsoe packets? Do you want help sorting them?" Larkpaw asked. She went off on a mental checklist of some of the herbs they'd need, hoping her mentor had already put them in all of the packets. Borage for the milk, coltsfoot for breathing, juniper berries for strength, feverfew incase she gets a fever or has a head ache, chamomile for relaxation, thyme for anxiety, and cobwebs for soaking up blood and what not. She hoped that was all that they were going to need, hopefully this birthing would go right. It's not that she thought it would go bad, but she wasnervous. It was her first birthind since she became the medicine cat apprentice of ThunderClan. Then something dawned on her. "Ivytail! Don't put poppy seeds in the packets, they're not for nursing queens! Now that could kill the kits."

Hmmm. Larkpaw now who told you they were for her? I get nervous about these things! She isn't eating them, I like to chew on them while I work. Now please don't question. Ivytail replied, as she just calmly padded into the backroom. I know what I'm doing. Don't worry. Should we add some feverfew incase? I think we'd better be safe than sorry. Ivytail said while packing it into her neat bundle. We shouldn't over whelm her with all these herbs... Maybe I should redo the bundle..? Nah. I've done this before with this bundle and it went very well with hardly any pains... Ivytail talked to herself and she started on her second one.

"Ok Ivytail, whatever you say." Larkpaw meowed to her mentor who was now babbling to herself. She mentally chuckled to herself, her mentor could be a nut sometimes. "So Shadowheart, do you feel any pains? Like sharp pains?" Larkpaw eyed her big belly. From what Shadowheart was telling her about the movements she was going to have them in at least the next two days, possibly today even. They were getting ready to leave their world and come into this one. Larkpaw was still kind of worried about the runt though, was he going to make it? By the sound of how small he is she couldn't be sure.

Shadowheart thought about what she should say; how she should answer that question the Larkpaw. Of course, SwiftFire was the best thing that'd ever happened to her, without him she'd still be sad or antisocial or something. But she didn't think it was right say that because it may disappoint the apprentice. She couldn't have a mate.
But then Ivytail walked out, and they started talking about Herbs, Herbs, and more herbs... She listened, and when Ivytail disappeared again the mate topic seemed to have passed. "I don't want tansy or poppyseeds", Shadowheart meowed with a small smile. "The pains?... They aren't that bad. I mean I have them but its nothing terrible", that was probably just the small she-cat lying though, she'd always been tough. Maybe she didn't want to admit it. She sighed, but then somewhere in her stomach she felt a deep contraction. It caught her off guard and she cried out in pain, looked embaressed, covered her mouth with one of her paws, and then wondered why that pain had hurt so bad.
