A warm breeze blew through tall blades of meadow green grass. The sun was setting low above the tree line that could be seen off in the distance. A bird flew across the sunset sky, the soft sound of breathe could be heard with the flapping of the feathered wings. A cream white and yellow marked figure creeped in the grass, like a lion watching its prey. A feather fell down to earth, just as it touched the tip of the blade of grass, white flashed. The feline stood in the middle of the plain with a yellow feather in its mouth. Dark blue eyes pierced the creeping darkness like the stars glittering in the sky. White paws then padded down to a small pond, Duckpaw, the reed whispered that sprout here and there. An apprentice, she let go of the feather. Watching it make a ripple effect in the pond that soon settled, her gaze looked back in front of her paws. Her reflection looked so much like her fathers, Duckpaws dark blue eyes looked back to beyond the treeline. As the sun faded ever so slightly more, the rays of the sun shone on the soft felines pelt. Duckpaw sat there, her thoughts wandering like a kit in a new place.

A small dark gray tom padded up to Duckpaw smiling. He looked at her through ice-blue eyes. They shone like a frozen river amid the snow. He smiled and sat beside her," Hello Duckpaw." He mewed, his voice young, rough, yet gentle at the same time.
Wingshadow purred as the breeze ruffled his pelt. He stretched and mewed to Duckpaw," Want to go for a hunt?" He smirked as a rabbit darted right in front of him. He clawed it's neck, killing it.
(He can be her future mate, he's only 17 moons)

Duckpaw's thoughts broke from drifting. Her warm blue eyes drifted over to the gray tom. The scent of windclan drifted around the two felines "I would be delighted to go hunting." she said in a soft, it was so sweet and innocent that it could make the darkness in one's heart flee. "Nice catch." the she-cat said nodding to the dead rabbit. Duckpaw's ears pearked up, all the sounds of nature flew into her mind. The birds sang in the sky, and something other then the two cats there moved in the grass. Crouching, Duckpaw's paws tingled, she knew only so much about hunting because she did not have a mentor. The cream white and yellow fur slightly blended into the dirt ground against the blades of the grass. A rabbit came into view, as fast as a river flowing she dashed through the grass. Not thinking her paws were slightly to loud, the rabbit looked up and darted away from her. If Duckpaw wasn't fast then the rabbit would have surely gotten away. Reaching out her claw skimmed the pure white fur of the rabbit. But it darted away in the last second, and the apprentice skitted to a hault nearly tripping. Trotting back her head slightly down "I'm not very good at hunting yet, because I don't have a mentor." the she-cats voice said with a sligt hint of disappointment. (And alrighty for the futrue mate.)

Wingshadow watched as she crept through the dirt. He smirked when she bolted away, her paws making a thumping sound on the dry ground. He smiled when she came back and mewed," I would gladly be your mentor... but I have Cresentpaw as an apprentice." He gave her a swift lick," You were very close Duckpaw." His bright blue gaze lit up when he rembered," Jadegaze doesn't have an apprentice!" He smiled.
(Ok and Jadegaze is one of my cats!)

Duckpaw's ears pearked up. The warm blue gaze also looking up at Wingshaodw, " Oh, I haven't seen Jadegaze around lately. I wouldn't mind if she became my mentor. I have the speed and balance to catch one of those furballs. I guess I just don't know how to use them correctly. " taking a breathe her attitude became less disappointed. "You know my father.... " trailing off for a second, the she-cats thoughts blazed through the indecent "My father was one of the greatest hunters in all the clans! Or at least that's what I said well before he had to leave." a shiver went down her spine. Even though it was quiet warm, Duckpaw's paw felt a tad bit colder. Looking up as another bird passed by a feather fell to earth once more, crouching once more her fur flashed again. But this time she stood there with a feather in her mouth before it had even hit the top of the blades of grass.

Wingshadow smiled he licked her ear again. Knowing what it was like to lose your parents. He had lost his mother and father in a fox attack. A group of foxes had broken into the camp. His mother died defending the nursery. His father died trying to take revenge on the foxes for killing his mother. He sighed and looked at Duckpaw through shining blue eyes. He smiled," Jadegaze is an excellent hunter. She will be a very good mentor to you." He licked a paw and drew it over his ear. He picked up his rabbit and mewed through it's fur," I'm gonna bury this then we can hunt, I might not be your mentor, but I can still teach you a few things." He carried his rabbit over to a long hanging thorn bush. He stuffed the rabbit under it and padded back," Okay, ready?"

The cream ginger and white feline purred with delight. "I'm sure she will be a great mentor." Duckpaw said closing her eyes for a second. As the warmth of the sun warmed her core, her deep blue eyes sparkled with excitiveness and kindness "You bet I'm ready!" the she-cat said with delight. The slightly longer tail of hers swished back and fourth with the rhythm of the wind. Her heart felt like a weight was lifted off of it, because of her unsuccessful hunt. Her claws tracted then retracted into the soft dirt below.

Wingshadow nodded and mewed," All right off we go!" He mewed and raced away without warning, if Duckpaw wanted to be a good hunter she would have to learn to keep up. He smirked as a hare hoped out right in front of him. He bowled it over and bit it's neck sharply, killing it. He carried it to another thorn bush and stuffed it under it. He turned around and scented the air," Hawk, Falcon, Eagle, Rabbit, Hare." The scents were overwhelming. He decided to teach Duckpaw how to catch a Falcon," Want to learn of to catch a Falcon?" Wingshadow muttered enthusiastically.

The white paws now being much more quieter she darted right after Wingshadow. Since her tail was longer then most feline, it helped her balance as she jumped onto a tip of a rock that bolted out of the ground with ease. Then jumping back down, Duckpaw watched the warrior kill the hare. "Another nice catch." the cream white apprentice said padding next to Wingshadow. "Learning to catch a falcon? That sounds kind of difficult. Please show me!" Duckpaw said like a eager kit. A bit of her hyper side was coming out. The breeze was on their side, it went through the she-cats fur like the white markings. The scent of prey consumed her "Do you think cats in starclan eat Rabbit and Falcons?" Duckpaw asked curiously. Wincing a little bit as the memories of Swiftstorm came into her thoughts. His life was such blessing, and it only took a silly little kit and her facination with feathers to take it away. (Oh and if you want to know like exactly what happen to her father or anything else I posted a bio of him in StarClan)

Wingshadow smiled and mewed," Yes Falcons. Of course I'll teach you. Um... I don' know, maybe probably." He smiled and looked at Duckpaw as she winced and looked at her paws. He gave her a soft lick on the cheek and murmured," You'll be alright, he's watching you and helping you all the time." He nuzzled her shoulder and looked up," Okay, see that falcon over there?" He mewed. He unsheathed his claws and crept forward slowly. his dark gray fur blending in with the rocks surronding him. He crept until her was a couple tail lengths from the rock that the Falcon was perched on. He pounced and landed on the Falcon's back as it tried to fly away. It got into the air a couple tail lengths high then fell back to the ground. He killed it with a hard hit to the back of the neck and stood up with his catch, smiling. (ok)

Her heart lifted as the kind warrior comforted her, its like Wingshadow was the only one who knew the words to speak to lift the burden that was upon her. The Dark blue eyes became wide as she watched the falcon perched. The apprentice sat there, the sound of nature muffled her breathing. When Wingshadow pounced on the Falcon it seemed like it would carry him away. But instead the warrior successfully dragged the winged prey down. Feathers drifted as the gray warrior hit the back and neck of the falcon hard. The ginger fur she-cat stood there in amazement. None of the falling feathers caught her attention. Her gaze was focused on the tom cat and the falcon. "Your.. amazing. The way you easily pounced on that falcon like it was a weakened mouse. " the slowly sinking sun reflected off of her blue eyes to make them gleam like a sparkling river, it caught a certain beauty that the she-cat had. " I don't know if I could do it with such ease and amazement like you, but I could always try. " Duckpaw meowed as her ears rotated with the sound of wings cutting through the air.

Wingshadow smirked," Thanks." He smiled and watched her as the setting sun lit her fur up and her eyes dazzled. He smiled and mewed," So what you want to do is be very quiet. Falcons, Hawks and Eagles have very good senses of hearing. You have to be fast. The birds don't just sit there all day. When you leap, stretch yourself out with all your claw unsheathed so you will hit it no matter what, sometimes. Make sure to jump higher than the bird because once it senses you it starts to fly off. Now you try!" He smiled.

Looking into the vast sky she saw a feathery creature perched onto another rock that jolted out of the ground. Duckpaw crouched like a lion watching its prey, her fur helped her blend into the dirt ground. One paw stepped foward, then as quietly as the wind the apprentice bolted foward. Like a dancer in a pas de duex her hind legs sprung her up. Seemly gliding in the air, her paws extended, claws unsheathed. Even though she wasn't as big as a warrior Duckpaw reached her destination. Claws digging into the Falcon as it struggled to take flight. It only got a tail length off of the rock, before Duckpaw dragged it back down. Her hind legs crushed its spine as it landed beneath the apprentice. " I did it!" her voice sounded so joyful, with the fresh kill in her mouth she happily padded next to Wingshadow "Thank you for showing me this. I've finally learned how I can use my speed and grace to catch a falcon.". Not knowing her deep blue eyes looked into the toms. The memories of her father and herself playing outside the nursery appeared, this did not make her sad. But her heart felt as light as a feather once more.

He smiled and licked her ear," Good job." He looked at the sun and then back at Duckpaw," We better get going, I have border patrol and you have hunting patrol with Jadegaze." He padded over to his catch and picked his the rabbits and falcon. He turned around and muttered through the feathers and fur," Ready?"

Duckpaw's soft fur go smoothed down by her white paws. White teeth clasped over the limp feathery hawk. " Of course I'm ready. I haven't really been on a hunting patrol before. But guessing the reaction of other cats that have been on them, its going to be exciting!" the she-cat sid through the feathers that slightly muffled her mouth. Her tail twitched as it brushed up against the tall emerald blades of grass. It scented of dew slightly, as humidly rose. Duckpaw's paws turned and started padding towards the camp along side Wingshadow.
{If you want you can post one more post of your cat leaving, or just tell me if your done so I can officially close this board.}
